Turning machine to turn steel coils in production process of cold rolled strip steel

The technical process of cold-rolled steel strip production is generally divided into seven major processes: cutting, pickling, rolling, heat treatment, leveling, shearing and packaging. When a bell annealing furnace is used for heat treatment of steel coils, it is required that the steel coils must be installed in vertical position inside furnace, and a deflector/ convector should be added between the steel coils to isolate the steel coils. Therefore, the steel coils need to be turned for the heat treatment and then enter the leveling process. The coil is turned from horizontal to vertical for furnace heat treatment. After the furnace is discharged, the steel coil is turned from vertical to horizontal for leveling. This turning operation of the steel coil is completed by the steel coil turning machine.

The current steel coil turning machine is mainly composed of a turning mechanism (generally a hydraulic cylinder or gear) and a cradle with two mutually perpendicular planes. In view of the requirements of the above process and the limitations of the existing steel coil turning machines, there are currently two main methods for hoisting, loading and unloading the steel coils.

One is to first lift the horizontal steel coils through a C-shaped hook spreader to the steel coil turning machine, the horizontal steel coil is turned into a vertical steel coil by 90° through the steel coil turning machine, and then the vertical steel coil is lifted with a clamp-type spreader, and the vertical steel coil is placed in advance Place the baffle plate and center it. Finally, the baffle plate is hoisted by a steel cable triangle spreader and placed on the furnace table of the bell-type annealing furnace together with the steel coil until the furnace is filled, and the sequence when the furnace is discharged Contrary to when installing the furnace. The main disadvantage of this hoisting method is that there are many types of hoisting tools required, inconvenient operation, and easy to pinch the inner and outer steel strips of the steel coil, and even the steel coil falls off during the hoisting process to damage the equipment or hurt personnels.

The other is to first lean the deflector on the vertical plane of the cradle, and then hoist the horizontal steel coil to the cradle through the C-shaped hook spreader, and by laying wooden sleepers under the horizontal steel coil to adjust the height of the center of the steel coil to center the steel coil and the deflector/convector to meet the requirements of the heat treatment process. After centering, the horizontal steel coil is turned into a vertical steel coil by 90° through a steel coil turning machine, and then the deflector and the steel coil are placed on the furnace table of the bell furnace by the steel cable triangle spreader. Until the furnace is filled, the sequence when the furnace is released is reversed to that of the furnace. Although this method solves the problems of many types of spreaders required, easy to pinch the steel belt, and easy to fall off during lifting, but because the outer diameter of the steel coil is not fixed, there are often steel coils and diversions. Difficult to align between the convector and steel coils.
