Coil wrapper Makes more Effective wrapping for Hose and Pipes
Coil wrapper has many different types, some are used for light tires wrapping and some for heavy steel coils wrapping. But basically it's semi-automatic and fully automatic types. Fully automatic type machines can be integrated with production lines, which the machine receives the products and make the wrapping all controlled by the PLC control system automatically. But semi-automatic type machines has to be human assisted.

For people who are familiar with coil wrappers, they might be noticed that it is rare see fully automatic coil wrappers used for wrapping plastic hose and pipe coils. Why? why it's like that? why all the coil wrappers used to wrap plastic hose coil and pipe coils need to be semi-automatic?

pipe coils wrapping issues-minThe reason for this is because plastic pipe and hose coils have very light weight and their ends are sticking out, not a round coil. These factors will affect the coil self rotation on the coil wrapper, because the hose coil is driven by supportive rollers under the coil. Unlike tires or bearings, hose coil doesn't have enough weight, less friction between the coils and taper rollers. So when the supportive rollers rotate, the hose coil doesn't rotate accordingly all the time.
And because of this reason, coil wrappers used for wrapping plastic pipe and hose coils are commonly designed into semi-automatic types. When the machine wraps the coil, operator will find the possible problems and solve it manually.

Is there any solution to break this situation? Can we build a machine which is fully automatic controlled and used for wrapping plastic hose and pipe coils? Same question asked by one of our Greek customers. They are a big company who works in irrigation pipe industry with great production capacity.
According to their request, our designing group has been devoted into this project for two months and found a new solution after studied many previous cases, brainstormed many times.
 
Based on the characteristics of plastic pipe and hose, we wisely changed the coil rotation to side rollers. Re-design the protective rollers and add motors to drive the coils. The hose coil is clamped by the protective rollers, so there is enough friction to ensure the rotation is successful. Big rollers are capable to handle the pipe ends without stuck. It's easy to get over even when the direction is against the rotation direction.

We all know that if the turning ring is too big, the wrapping will be loose. But customer has variant coil dimensions and the ring needs to be big for wrapping all of them. In order to make the wrapping performance better, we decided to install the wrapper on sliding rails. This design allows us to use a smaller ring while guarantee all the coils can be wrapped by the machine. The position of the wrapper is controlled by the system, operator only needs to input the coil Inner diameter and outer diameter on the touch screen and the system will calculate the required position for the wrapper. More friendly for new operators who has little knowledge about coil wrappers.
